What to look for among new arrivals

A record can be restocked, reissued and sold new at the same time. The descriptions shown among arrivals refer to different things: arrival at the shop, the record’s version or the copy’s condition. To choose, you sometimes need to open the product page and read them together.

Take three Teknoboutik references recorded on 15 October 2026. They illustrate the difference with specific examples. Prices and quantities change: links at the end of the article lead to the product pages to consult when buying.

Senoidal Records 002: new to the crate, dated 2025

On the Senoidal Records 002 page, the Nouveauté badge appears alongside a release year listed as 2025. The record appears among the new arrivals checked in October 2026. That badge alone therefore does not give the date when the music was first published.

The reference SNDL002 narrows the search: four tracks on Senoidal Records by 3Morph, Vikkei, Les Enfants Sages and Lemurian. If you noticed the record in a video, note those names and that reference. They will still be useful when the arrivals page has changed.

03

Vortex 01: the return of a 2016 repress

The Vortex 01 Repress 2016 page, by MSD and Gotek, carries the Restock badge as well as Repress and Réédition descriptions. The year displayed for this version is 2016. Restock indicates that this reference has returned to the shop.

It does not establish that a new pressing has just been manufactured. To find the right version, keep the reference VORTEX 01 REPRESS and compare the tracks on both sides. The date of its return to the racks and the manufacturing details answer two different questions.

Reissue and repress: checking what is documented

In its format guide, Discogs distinguishes the reissue of previously released content from a repress made from the original master disc. The guide also allows both descriptions to coexist. These definitions belong to its cataloguing system; for a specific edition, the label’s or seller’s information still needs checking.

Compare the tracks, versions and reference. If manufacturing details are provided, read those too. The description Réédition alone proves neither new mastering, nor better sound quality, nor an identical sleeve. For a detail that matters to your collection, it is better to ask for confirmation.

05

Engraine 08: also read the presentation and condition

On the page for Engraine 08 by Alextrem, the descriptions Nouveauté and White label accompany a record listed as Mint with a Generic sleeve. These are further, separate details. The Discogs guide specifies, in particular, that a blank centre label alone is not enough to identify a record as promotional or a test pressing.

If you expect an illustrated sleeve, look at the photographs and description. If you want a test pressing, check that this is explicitly stated, with its provenance. Musical content, presentation and condition should be read separately, even when a few words in the title already catch your eye.

06

Returning to the tracks

Once you have identified the edition, the best part remains: listening to the available tracks. Keep the title, label, reference and version details for every favourite. You can compare a new arrival and a restock without confusing two similar editions.

A track to play again, a side that complements the other, a piece to try in a set: each can be a good reason to choose a record. Badges help you browse arrivals. The decision comes from listening with the edition’s product page open alongside.
